Having lived in Arizona for almost 30 years before relocating to Florida in 2004 (just in time for hurricanes Frances & Jeanne) makes one appreciate what doesn’t happen in Arizona. There are very few natural disasters (unless you consider extreme heat a disaster.) Most people are familiar with the term “Snowbird” in Arizona, as well as Florida. We always did things in a reverse manner. We are “Sunbirds.” When we lived in Arizona, we escaped for the summer months to northern areas where we could still work. In my opinion it sure beats being a Snowbird. We are now Sunbirds living in Florida on the beach.
